German Plans Country's First Nudist Trail

Nude hikers in Germany have a new place to indulge their hobby. One keen naturist has announced plans for a hiking trail exclusively for those who enjoy walking in the buff.

Heinz Ludwig, who owns a campsite and restaurant in the small village of Dankerode in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt, has another passion beside serving food and providing tents: naked hiking. He is the initiator of a planned walking path meandering 18 kilometers (11 miles) through the Harz mountain range in central Germany, which he claims will be Germany's first official naked hiking trail.
The official opening ceremony and inaugural walk will take place at the start of the hiking season next May, but Ludwig has already posted the first sign warning trekkers that they might run across naturalists if they continue their journey. "The only problem I have is that nobody seems willing to take part in the inaugural walk," Ludwig told local media.
Although plenty of people are interested in taking to the hills in nothing but their birthday suits, he says, many are afraid that, if they take part in the high-profile event, images of their naked bodies will pop up on the Internet and in newspapers and magazines all over the world.
However those who shun the pursuit of nude walking are given ample warning if they happen to stumble across the new path. "If you don't want to see naked people, then you shouldn't go past this point," a sign at the beginning of the path reads. The track also leads past a small lake, which has for years been known amongst locals as a hotspot for the unclothed.
Germany has a widespread tradition of naturism -- known by its German acronym of FKK (for free body culture) -- dating back to the late 19th century, and nude bathing is widely accepted, especially on designated beaches on the Baltic Sea coast.

"Give It a Go"
 
Naked hiking, which has become something of a trend in the alpine regions of Germany and Switzerland, is also attracting enthusiasts from abroad. Earlier this year a conservative Swiss canton banned the practice of nude hiking in a popular vote after locals complained about the sheer number of bare ramblers descending upon their idyllic forests and picturesque meadows and valleys.
But, in Germany, these problems are yet practically unheard of. "We have never really experienced any resistance," says Kurt Fischer, president of the German Society of Nudists, which has over 50,000 members and is an official member of the German Sports Association. He explained that Germans are fortunate enough to have the right to choose what they want to do and to do exactly that.
"Naked hiking in the fresh and healthy air, when the weather is good, is an experience that many people just don't want to miss out on," Fischer told SPIEGEL ONLINE. "Everyone should give it a go."
Correction: German wire services, including DPA and DDP, incorrectly reported on Monday that Heinz Ludwig had already opened the 18-kilometer long hiking trail. However, as also stated in the SPIEGEL ONLINE article, he is hoping to officially open it next spring.

Pegawai Kantor Diwajibkan Bekerja Telanjang Setiap Jumat

Sebuah perusahaan di New Castle, Inggris, menerapkan ide nyeleneh untuk memotivasi para karyawannya. Ide itu diterapkan setiap hari Jumat tiap pekannya. Bukan seperti di Indonesia sekarang dimana setiap Jumat, pegawai swasta dan negeri (PNS), diinstruksikan mengenakan pakaian batik.

Di perusahaan yang dipimpin Manajer Sam Jackson (23 tahun) ini setiap Jumat karyawannya diminta berbugul ria selama bekerja. Gila nggak!Menurutnya sang bos, Sam Jackson, inovasi dan terobosan-terobosan sangat penting dilakukan di masa krisis seperti sekarang. Bekerja dalam keadaan bugil diyakini bisa menambah semangat dan menaikkan produktivitas kerja.
Mengenakan pakaian dianggap hanyalah penghalang bagi kemajuan prestasi kerja. Dengan cara ini omzet perusahaan bakal meningkat karena para pekerja sangat bergairah.
Untuk menaikkan semangat kerja, pihak perusahaan pun mengundang psikolog, David Taylor, untuk memberi pompaan motivasi kerja pada para karyawan. Peristiwa ‘Jumat Telanjang’ itu dianggap keberhasilan yang sangat besar dan membawa hasil positif bagi kerusahaan.
“Ini ide brilian. Sekarang kita bisa saling melihat satu dengan yang lain dalam keadaan telanjang, tidak ada penghalang lagi,” ucap Sam Jackson.
“Kami melakukan ini tanpa tekanan siapapun. Jika kami ingin mengenakan baju saat masuk kantor, atau hanya mengenakan pakain dalam di kantor, sebenarnya, tidak apa-apa, tapi nyatanya kami senang dengan keadaan seperti ini. Saya menyukai badan saya, dan saya tidak malu karenanya” imbuhnya.
Selama seminggu pada awalnya, bekerja telanjang, terasa aneh dan mengurangi rasa percaya diri. Untuk itu setiap karyawan disarankan memfotocopy bagian-bagian badannya,hal ini untuk membuat mereka lebih percaya diri.
Sam menambahkan, dibutuhkan waktu seminggu bagi David untuk memotivasi para karyawan dan mengembangkan keberaniannya. “Awalnya terasa aneh dan janggal, tapi setelah itu saya menjadi terbiasa. Saya berjalan telanjang menuju meja kerja saya, dan itu kini tidak masalah lagi. Saya merasa benar-benar nyaman,” kata Sam.
“Dengan tradisi baru ini, kami menemukan bahwa kami menjadi lebih bebas dan terbuka terhadap satu dan lainnya.Dampaknya terhadap perusahaan menjadi lebih baik.”
Managing Director, Mike Owen, 40, mengatakan, entah kami berani atau gila, tapi saya berkata pada setiap orang untuk tidak melakukan hal tersebut (telanjang) jika tidak ingin. Jadi mereka yang merasa bahwa hal ini benar dapat melakukannya.
Awalnya para pekerja memang grogi tapi sekarang mereka terbiasa dan mengaku nyaman tanpa pakaian. Bekerja telanjang ini sekali dilakukan pada April 2010 dan diliput televisi. Acara Kantor Telanjang ini telah disiarkan pada 9 Juli 2010 lalu.

Music Videos Provocatively Skirt the Nudity Issue

Anyone who watches music videos on television knows we’ve come a long way from the days when Elvis Presley could be shown only from the waist up — even if the limit is now a fleeting glimpse of Rascal Flatts singer Joe Don Rooney’s backside, as seen on a video that is causing controversy on country channel CMT. But viewers in search of the naked truth are still looking in vain.

For all the sexual imagery and innuendo today’s pop stars pound into their visual presentations, they remain bound by certain guidelines, prominent among them that nudity is a no-no. Spokesmen for MTV and VH1 confirm that both channels eschew nudity as a general rule, while Marc Juris, president of Fuse Television, the U.S. version of Canada’s MuchMusic, says his network will air any videos that audiences deem acceptable “so long as they don’t violate FCC standards.”
Stephen Hill, senior vice president of music, talent and programming at BET, is more specific: “There can be no frontal nudity, no female nipples and no male or female genitalia.”
That means that although you can see Christina Aguilera writhing in S&M gear in her Dirrty video or watch the teens in T.A.T.U. as they frolic in rain-soaked schoolgirl outfits, you probably won’t see a body part remotely linked to procreation, unless it has been dutifully blurred or obscured.
Hill says context is also a significant factor. “We’ll ask for edits in a lot of hip-hop videos because while they don’t involve nudity, the situations may be too sensual, especially for daytime.” Late-night viewers can catch more adult-oriented videos on BET’s Uncut— just as in the early ’90s they could turn on MTV after midnight and see Madonna’s steamier fare.
Hill says he doesn’t think Madonna’s Justify Your Love video, featuring the scantily clad singer cavorting with men and women, would garner such controversy were it introduced today. “Madonna pushed the form, and other artists have continued to push it.” Hill points to the video D’Angelo released several years ago for Untitled (How Does It Feel) in which the R&B singer’s glistening torso was surveyed at close range. “It stopped just north of the line where, you know, we would have had issues.”
The restrictions faced by network executives are partly cultural in origin. MuchMusic “has always been more open to nudity and sexuality” than its U.S. counterparts, music programmer Craig Halket says. For example, late-night viewers can check out an unedited version of the Dandy Warhols’ Bohemian Like You video, in which “a girl imagines a guy naked, and suddenly you see him naked — the full monty, if you will.”
Yet despite the USA’s puritanical leanings — or, some might argue, because of them — images on American music video channels have grown increasingly provocative and prurient. And with spectacle-driven reality shows such as MTV’s Real World and VH1′s All Access series — which has featured programs titled Porn to Rock and Rap and Getting Naked— garnering interest, those images are no longer confined to videos.
“The whole point of Real World is for there to be some naughty nookie,” says Craig Marks, editor of music magazine Blender. “I mean, there’s a reason there’s always a hot tub in the house. And spring break is really nothing but booties and boobies. I think there’s very little that a Britney Spears or a Madonna could do to push more buttons than those shows already push all the time.”
Rolling Stone contributing editor Anthony DeCurtis agrees. “MTV and VH1, and MTV in particular, traffic in this sort of endless titillation that stands in bizarre contradiction to their not showing nudity. It’s as if anything that seems like a consummation is frowned on. Instead, there’s this kind of adolescent sexuality, with a lot of talking and looking and fantasizing.
“Through the years, MTV has done a very effective job of dancing up to the line without going over it. And that approach seems to work for them.”
